Volunteer

Our volunteers play a very important role in our organisation. Throughout the years, we have received so much support from our volunteers for various events and we cannot thank them enough for their time and effort in supporting GDS.

Click here to register as a volunteer and we will be in touch.

These are the ways you can volunteer with GDS:

  • Be a GDS Ambassador:

    • You will support us in our outreach efforts such as conducting talks to our community partners, and providing information to members of the public at outreach booths
    • Depending on your availability and the frequency of our events, we would need your help once a month or every two months
    • You may indicate your preferred day and time and we will contact you when there are events that suit your schedule
    • As training is provided, a one-year commitment will be appreciated
    • Minimum age: 17 years old
  • Curate a social programme for our clients where they can have meaningful experiences using their other senses (Example: a guided tour to learn about horses and experience horse-riding)

  • Help with administrative tasks on weekdays

  • If you are not sure of your schedule, sign up as an ad-hoc volunteer and we will contact you when we need extra help to run events.

“Volunteering with GDS has been a really awesome experience because I not only got to learn more about the vision-impaired (VI) community, I also met many like minded individuals who have a passion for this community. Together, we get to raise awareness about the VI community and get to see the change of the public towards them. I also learnt a lot from the staff of GDS and their warmth and friendliness are something I will never forget. Most importantly, having worked with GDS has confirmed my interest and passion in the disability sector.”
