Client-Centric Activities

GDS regularly organises social events and skill-based workshops to enrich the lives of our clients. These activities are specially curated to provide meaningful experiences for people with vision loss, encouraging them to practice their mobility skills outside their homes and ultimately boosting their confidence through positive experiences.

These events give our clients the chance to make new friends with similar interests and support one another through learning and social interaction. They also offer a platform for volunteers to engage with the vision-impaired community and promote social integration by normalising interactions between sighted individuals and those with vision impairment.

Here are some of the activities we have organised over the years with our community partners:

1

Sports and Leisure

  • Horse-riding at Turf Club
  • Dragon boating jointly organised with a social enterprise, Society Staples

  • 2-day-1-night camp for young adult clients
  • Run For Light, a fundraising sports event
  • Baking of dog treats with Barking Good Bakery

  • Audio-described performances by Singapore Repertory Theatre (e.g. The Gingerbread Man, Sweeney Todd, Fantastic Mr Fox)
