A Day of Fun Celebrating Inclusivity and the Visually Impaired Community

In celebration of White Cane Day, join Guide Dogs Singapore at our community event at The Star Vista, B1 The Star Plaza, on Sunday, 27 October 2024 for a day of fun activities. This event will honour the remarkable achievements of our friends with vision impairment, highlighting their strength and the meaningful impact they have on those around them.

*White Cane Day falls on 15 October every year.

Get ready for an exciting programme lineup

  • 10.30am Launch Ceremony: Officiated by our guest-of-honour, Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth

  • 11.30am and 2.30pm Songs From The Heart: Experience a heartfelt performance by our talented Guide Dogs Singapore clients, whose inspiring voices will create a memorable highlight of the day.

  • 12.30pm Quiz and Trivia Quest: Test your knowledge and learn new facts about the visually impaired community in our engaging quiz and trivia quest. It’s a chance to have fun while discovering more about an important cause.

  • 1.30pm Unlocking the Secrets to Pet Wellness: Gain valuable insights on keeping your pets healthy from experts at The Animal Clinic. This session will offer practical tips to help you maintain your pet’s well-being.

  • 2.00pm and 6.00pm Guide Dog in Action: Witness a live demonstration showcasing the remarkable abilities of our guide dog and discover how this exceptional animal assists and empowers its user.

  • 3.00pm and 6.30pm Lucky Draw Announcement:  Join our lucky draw for a chance to win amazing prizes, such as a diving trip from Sensui Dive Resort, activewear by Anya Active, a co-working cat cafe experience at Fuzzies, and more!

  • 3.30pm Eye Care 101: Enhance your understanding of eye health in this session led by experts from the Singapore Optometric Association, who will share essential advice on maintaining optimal vision.

  • 4.30pm Navigating the World Together: Learn how to effectively support those with low vision or blindness through human guide techniques.

  • 5.00pm Magical Story Time: Come along for an exciting story time adventure with Lee Lee, GDS guide dog user! This session will take kids on a journey through fun and imaginative stories, sparking creativity and joy.

As part of our commitment to promoting eye health, we are collaborating with Singapore Polytechnic to offer free eye screening at the event from 10.00am to 6.30pm.

Plus, join our lucky draw for a chance to win amazing prizes such as a diving trip from Sensui Dive Resort, activewear by Anya Active, a co-working cat cafe experience at Fuzzies and a set menu dining experience at Caffè Affogato.

The lucky draw will take place at 3:00 PM & 6:30 PM. You must be present at the venue during the lucky draw segment to claim your prize.

  • Do I need to sign up for the programme if I’m unsure I can attend?  We recommend registering if you think you might attend. You can always cancel later if needed. But even if you don’t register, feel free to drop by and join the fun! We have activities running throughout the day, so there’s something for everyone.
