Look beyond their vision impairment (VI), and you will witness the depth of roles that people with VI embody. They may be devoted parents, compassionate caregivers and trusted mentors who offer guidance to those who work alongside them. These individuals show that VI is just part of their lives, but not their entire story.

When adults experience vision loss, they go through stages of grief as they adapt to their new reality. Your donation enables us to make a profound impact on the quality of life of our clients through specially curated programmes that help them cope with sight loss. We offer emotional support, teach them skills to manage their daily tasks and travel independently. For our clients who are parents or caregivers, it gives them great joy and a sense of self-worth to continue caring for their families.

From 1 August to 31 October 2023, make a donation to help us continue funding our vision rehabilitation services, supporting more people with VI to regain their independence and self-confidence.

Your support will make a life-changing transformation for our clients who hope to live the independent life they desire. All donations to GDS during our campaign period till 31 October 2023 are matched dollar-for-dollar by Tote Board. This means when you donate $100, GDS will receive $200 in total and your contribution will double in its impact.

All direct donations to GDS of minimum $20 are eligible for a 250% tax exemption.

“As a mother of two children, I felt completely unprepared for the impact that vision loss will gave on my life and my ability to care for my family. Suddenly, simple tasks like helping my children with their homework became a major challenge.

The training with Guide Dogs Singapore (GDS) has not only helped me to become more independent and active, but also helped my family to understand my vision loss and how they can better provide assistance. The various training and client-centric activities with GDS have taught me that even with vision impairment, I am still able to live the lifestyle that I want and this gave me hope in life.”

“The biggest challenge for me was conquering the initial fear and anxiety that I had. With the support of GDS, I learned the proper way to use a white cane for navigation and safe crossing of major road junctions. The training has significantly improved my confidence, enabling me to regain independence and self-reliance.

“GDS has been an incredible support on my journey! The instructor taught me how to use assistive technology like screen readers for various applications, reading emails and shopping online. Now, I can efficiently order dinner for my parents through GrabFood, saving loads of time. Thanks to GDS, I am more confident in using my phone and I’ve gained newfound independence.

Your donation will make a life-changing transformation for our clients who hope to achieve the same level of self-reliance and empowerment that Pauline, Pei Yueng and Sebastian have after receiving training from GDS. If you would like to help raise funds for us to continue providing lifelong, sustainable support to the vision impaired community, here’s how you can make a donation via our online portals:
