At Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS), we have been doing our best to support our clients in regaining their mobility and independence to help them integrate back into society. This is especially important with the current crisis as it underscores the importance of independent skills which are critical for people with visual impairment (VI) to be self-reliant and survive through tough times.

Our rehabilitated clients are able to travel out to buy their own food and essential items, and use assistive technology to stay connected with family and friends, and closely tuned to the latest news. While it might be an easy feat for us sighted individuals, it takes months of training for our clients to be able to travel out independently and learn how to use their mobile devices.

Join us to celebrate White Cane Day (WCD) 2021 this September to November, as we commemorate the milestones our friends with VI have achieved through their perseverance and resilience. Through the campaign, we will shed more light on our friends with vision loss and their daily lives to build more understanding of this community. Stay tuned for further updates by following us on our social media pages – we have exciting content coming up!

If you would like to make a contribution, you may do so via our online campaigns or various donation channels. Your donation will be matched by Tote Board with a $1 for $1 grant ($100 => $200)! Physical cheques and cash donations to our online campaigns will also qualify for the donation matching if made between 11 September to 14 November 2021.

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved, contact us at admin@guidedogs.org.sg / 6339 7900.

We are deeply grateful for your continued support towards our work and thank you for not leaving the VI community behind.
